2021 Spring Season Recap
The MCC baseball program had a challenging season this year, starting in quarantine for 14 days due to preseason COVID-19 testing. Despite the slow start, the team managed to split with regional opponents. In the second half of the season, the Wolves struggled on the mound and were swept by Crowder and lost 3 out of 4 to Mineral Area. Even with the season difficulties, the team came together to knock out the #2 seed Mineral Area in the Region XVI Sub-Regional game to advance to the Region XVI Tournament in Joplin, MO.
Although the team did not have the year they originally had planned, Coach Kilgore was proud of the players for staying very close, working hard and competing to the end. Returning position players include Hayden Thornton, Zayne Morrow, Anthony Marcano, TJ Nichols, and Cale Sackewitz. Several young men will move on to continue the education through the game of baseball: Josh Bortka & Karsen Reid to UCM, Zach Pratt & Charlie Williams to Colorado State University (Pueblo), Jake Davey to Concordia University, Matt Schrick to Keiser University, Gage Reed to Park University, and Owen Forck and other sophomores will be making decisions soon. We wish them all good luck and thank them for their time here at MCC.
