The MCC Wolves faced an early-season test with home-and-home doubleheaders against the No. 12 ranked Johnson County Cavaliers.
MCC fell behind early in game one after allowing back-to-back three-run innings to start the contest. The Wolves got on the board in the second inning with an RBI double from Eden Myers, but Johnson County continued to add on late, taking game one 13–3.
The Wolves showed fight in game two. After surrendering two runs in the top of the first inning, Jackson Bell responded with a two-run home run to tie the game. Later, after giving up three runs in the fourth, MCC answered with a five-run bottom half of the inning. Bell delivered again, this time with a two-RBI single, to give the Wolves a 7–5 lead. However, the Cavaliers' bats heated up in the later innings, and MCC fell 19–8.
The final two games of the series shifted to Johnson County, but the change in scenery did little to slow the Cavaliers. Johnson County stayed hot, winning game one 5–0 and game two 10–3.
The Wolves return to action next weekend with a four-game series against Dakota County Technical College, featuring doubleheaders beginning at noon on both Saturday and Sunday.
